How to check Security Controls in New & Improved CyberSmart Active Protect

CyberSmart Active Protect regularly checks your device against a set of security controls. You can view any controls that require attention and follow the guidance provided to resolve them.

1. Open CyberSmart Active Protect

On Windows: Select the CyberSmart icon in the system tray. You may need to select the arrow to show hidden icons.

On macOS: Select the CyberSmart icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

2. Open Security Controls

When Active Protect opens, the home page will show whether any security controls are failing. Select Security Controls to view the results for your device.

3. Review a failed control

The Security Controls page separates your results into:

Unsecured controls — checks that require attention
Secured controls — checks that are currently passing.

Select the name of a failed control to view more information and the recommended remediation steps.

4. Follow the remediation guidance

Complete the steps shown in the application to secure the failed control. Select the Back arrow when you have finished to return to the Security Controls page.

5. Refresh the checks

Select Refresh in the top-right corner of the Security Controls page to run the checks again. Once the check has completed successfully, the control will move from Unsecured controls to Secured controls.
