FAQs
Why is CyberSmart making these changes?
The cyber risk environment has increased following several high-profile incidents. Our underwriter (also used by IASME) has reviewed premiums for the first time in over a decade, and IASME has already adjusted its optional cyber insurance pricing.
Rather than passing these changes on immediately, CyberSmart is holding all package and insurance updates until 31 December 2025 to give partners and their customers more time to prepare. Renewing customers and partners have an extended timeframe and will stay on 2025 pricing until 31 March 2026, with pricing remaining for the full 12-month term. New customer pricing will apply from 1 January 2026.
What replaces the £100k/£250k bundles?
From 1 January, all higher-limit insurance moves to the enhanced insurance journey,
offering:
A wider panel of insurers
Increased flexibility
Discounted premiums
Streamlined question set
Cover options up to £5m online
Higher limits by contacting Sutcliffe directly
Will existing uplift cover remain valid?
Yes. If a customer has opted into £100k or £250k uplift, their cover remains active until the end of their current Cyber Essentials certification period.
What if customers want the uplift after 1 January?
They can still obtain the uplift directly through Sutcliffe & Co. From 1 January, uplift insurance is no longer available through CyberSmart and must be purchased directly.
Eligible Cyber Essentials-certified organisations may receive preferential pricing based on their security posture.
What happens for customers renewing after 1 January?
Renewals completed before 31 March 2026 continue on old pricing for the full term (monthly or annual). All renewals from 1 April 2026 onwards move to the new 2026 pricing, for a full 12-month term.
What if I have an existing multi-year deal?
CyberSmart will honour any existing multi-year agreements. Your pricing and level of cover will remain unchanged for the duration of your contracted term.
Does monthly billing change pricing earlier?
No. Monthly billing does not adjust the price partway through. Pricing remains fixed for the entire 12-month contract, regardless of payment method.
What about customers who previously opted into higher insurance?
Customers who previously opted into higher-limit insurance follow the same renewal rules as all other customers. Renewals completed before 31 March 2026 will stay on 2025 pricing for a full 12-month term.
