What data does the Mobile application collect?

CyberSmart Active Protect for Mobile does not store data on the following:

  • Websites that are browsed by the user

  • In-app activity performed by the user

  • Photos, videos or audio files stored on the device

  • Contacts, messages or emails

On Android, location permission is required in order to see the names of any WiFi networks the user is connected to. If CyberSmart detects a rogue WiFi network, it needs location permission in order to tell the user the name of the malicious network, so they know which one to disconnect from. Location permission isn’t used for any other purpose and your GPS Coordinates are never shared with CyberSmart or your organisation.

CyberSmart Active Protect for Mobile does store the following data and is visible to CyberSmart dashboard admins:

  • The device’s make, model, software version, and configuration

  • If any high-risk event has occurred

    • if the device accesses a suspicious or malicious website (the URL of the website itself will NOT be shared)

  • If a malicious or suspicious app has been installed

    • app name, version, install date, install source, APK file information, intents and permissions are collected (not currently reported on dashboard)

  • If the user has connected to a malicious WiFi hotspot

    • SSID of connected WiFi networks (not currently reported on dashboard)
