How to Uninstall New & Improved Active Protect (Windows)
CyberSmart Active Protect can be removed using the standard Windows uninstall process or, for larger deployments, by using the CyberSmart PowerShell uninstaller.
Before You Begin
Before uninstalling Active Protect, close the application:
Locate the CyberSmart Active Protect icon in the Windows system tray.
Right-click the icon and select Quit.
Note: Administrator permissions may be required to uninstall the application.
Standard Uninstall (Recommended)
Method 1 – Windows Settings
Open Settings.
Navigate to Apps > Installed apps (Windows 11) or Apps & features (Windows 10).
Locate CyberSmart Active Protect.
Select Uninstall.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the removal.
Method 2 – Control Panel
If you prefer, you can uninstall using the legacy Programs and Features window.
Press Windows + R.
Type:
Appwiz.cpl
Press Enter.
Select CyberSmart Active Protect from the list of installed programs.
Click Uninstall and follow the prompts.
Bulk or Automated Uninstall
For organisations removing Active Protect from multiple devices, CyberSmart provides a PowerShell uninstaller that can be deployed using:
Windows Group Policy (GPO)
Microsoft Intune
Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) tools
Other software deployment platforms
Download the Uninstaller
Run from Command Prompt
Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "
"
Replace
with the full path to the downloaded script.
Example:
powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "C:\Temp\CyberSmartUninstaller.ps1"
Run from PowerShell
Alternatively, open PowerShell as an administrator, navigate to the folder containing the script and run:
.\CyberSmartUninstaller.ps1
Troubleshooting
“Running scripts is disabled on this system”
If you receive the following error:
Cannot be loaded because running scripts is disabled on this system.
Run the script using the -ExecutionPolicy Bypass command shown above. This temporarily bypasses the execution policy for that PowerShell session only and does not permanently change your system settings.
If the application does not uninstall using the standard Windows methods, try the PowerShell uninstaller before contacting support.
